Key West is at a crossroads.

We can either continue down the path of dysfunction, waste, and misplaced priorities, or we can get back to honest government that listens, plans for the long term, and delivers results for the people who actually live here.

I’m running for City Commissioner to do the hard work of getting Key West back on track. Here’s how:

Fiscal Responsibility

City Hall should be a good steward of your tax dollars, not a revolving door for wasteful spending. I will continue to be a careful watchdog who asks tough questions, demands clear answers, and ensures that every dollar we spend produces real results for residents.

Recently, I encouraged the City Commission to move a costly special election that was planned for August 2025 to the regular November 2026 ballot instead. The Commission agreed, and that simple change saved taxpayers $76,000. It’s a reminder that paying attention and asking questions can make a real difference.

And let me be clear: I would never have voted to give our former City Attorney a $120,000 golden parachute on his way out. While he has not yet been convicted of the felonies he’s charged with, he admitted to violating city policy, and that alone would have been enough for me to vote to fire him with cause. Accountability matters and Key West deserves leaders who understand that.

Honest Government and Accountability

Key West deserves leaders who tell the truth, follow the law, and act in the public’s best interest. I will work to end corruption and backroom dealing by ensuring city business is conducted in the open and that information is accessible to everyone.

I will not be participating in any text-message conspiracies to keep other leaders or the public out of the loop, and if I ever see that behavior, I will call it out immediately. You have my word.

Public service is about trust. I believe in plainspoken honesty, respect, and doing the right thing.

Protecting Our Neighborhoods

Our neighborhoods are the heart of this island. I will work to keep them safe, clean, and livable by focusing on code enforcement, traffic management, and quality-of-life improvements that make Key West a better place to live, not just a place to visit.

Projects like the redevelopment of the neighborhood around the Casa Marina must be done responsibly and thoughtfully. These efforts take time, persistence, and community input. I have the patience and tenacity to see them through while making sure residents are heard first, not last.

Growth and development must serve the people who live here, not outside investors who see Key West as a profit center.

Clean Water and a Healthy Environment

Our waters are the foundation of life and the lifeblood of our economy. As President of Keys Last Stand, I have worked to protect water quality, push back on overdevelopment, and preserve our Key West character and charm.

On the Commission, I would not have voted to terminate our water quality testing contract with the College of the Florida Keys. I will work to repair our damaged relationship with the College because we are much better off when we all work together.  I will never play politics with our environment. I will lead with facts and science, not favoritism, because our future depends on it.

Housing That Works

Affordable and workforce housing must be part of a long-term, coordinated plan, not a series of last-minute deals that make headlines but don’t move the needle. I will support responsible housing initiatives that deliver homes for working people, seniors, and first responders without giving away city assets or cutting corners.

We can meet our housing needs without losing what makes Key West special.

A City That Works for Everyone

I will bring respect, collaboration, and competence back to City Hall. That means listening to residents, empowering staff, and ensuring decisions are made based on facts, not politics.

My campaign will not accept a single contribution from any business or individual who has or may have business before the City Commission. I cannot and will not be bought. My loyalty will always be to the people of Key West, not to special interests.

Key West’s motto is One Human Family, and I will lead with that spirit in everything I do.
